On Thursday, President Emmanuel Macron announced that he will seek re-election as the French leader.

Macron delayed his announcement to address other pressing issues, particularly Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Nevertheless, electoral regulations mandate that candidates submit their candidacies by Thursday this week.

In a letter published by French newspapers on Thursday evening, Macron admitted that we have not achieved everything we set out to do and that there are choices he would probably make differently with the experience he has gained from him, according to Reuters.

The first round of the French election is on April 10, with polls indicating a potential second term for President Macron, but right-wing newcomers aim to upset the status quo.

Valerie Pecresse, the center-right candidate, has a chance to compete with Macron in the second round of the elections, but this possibility is at risk due to the rising popularity of anti-immigrant politicians Marine Le Pen and Eric Zemmour, who are currently in second and third place, respectively.

In 2017, Macron was elected on a pro-EU platform and pledged to reform the French economy. Currently, his popularity is increasing due to his stance towards Moscow, following the protests of the "Yellow Vest" movement.
