Trump wavers on Harris debate on ABC News, Democratic nominee seeks hot mics.
  • Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, is uncertain about whether he will participate in a debate with Vice President Kamala Harris on ABC News in the upcoming month.
  • Trump contemplated whether he should engage in a debate with the Democratic nominee Harris on Sept. 10 due to what he believed would be an unfavorable environment.
  • The Trump campaign is not in favor of using hot mics during the showdown, while Harris' campaign desires their use.

Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, is now uncertain about whether he will participate in a debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, as originally planned.

The ABC News showdown on Sept. 10 is the subject of disagreement among their campaigns.

Trump questioned whether he should debate Harris given the hostile setting he suggested.

I watched ABC News this morning, where lightweight reporter Jonathan Carl conducted a ridiculous and biased interview with Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton, and their so-called Panel of Trump Haters. I wonder why I would consider participating in a debate against Kamala Harris on that network.

Will Donna Brazil give the questions to the Marxist Candidate like she did for Crooked Hillary Clinton? Will Kamala's best friend, who heads up ABC, do likewise? Where is Liddle' George Slopadopolus hanging out now? Will he be involved? They've got a lot of questions to answer!!! Why did Harris turn down Fox, NBC, CBS, and even CNN? Stay tuned!

The eyebrow-raising suggestion emerged during reports of a disagreement between the campaigns regarding whether ABC would maintain both microphones active during the debate, allowing any remarks made by candidates while their opponents were speaking.

Politico reported that the Trump campaign does not want hot mics, while Harris' campaign wants them, according to NBC News confirmation.

During the previous presidential debate hosted by CNN in late June, the positions of the campaigns were reversed. The Trump campaign had wanted hot mics, while the then-presumptive Democratic nominee President Joe Biden's campaign asked for and received the candidates' microphones to be turned on only when it was their turn to speak.

Biden's halting performance and jumbled answers during the debate effectively ended his reelection hopes, leading him to drop out of the race and endorse Harris less than a month later.

Brian Fallon, a spokesperson for the Harris campaign, stated that they believe both candidates' microphones should be live during the entire broadcast of any potential October debate, as they have informed ABC and other networks seeking to host the event.

According to Fallon, Trump's handlers prefer a muted microphone because they believe their candidate cannot act presidential for 90 minutes without assistance.

During the 2016 debate between Trump and Clinton, Trump frequently interrupted his opponent, as he did when he said, "Such a nasty woman."

Trump's team is likely hiding the dispute from their boss because it would be embarrassing to admit they don't believe he can handle himself against Vice President Harris without the use of a mute button. The Vice President is prepared to handle Trump's constant lies and interruptions in real time. Trump should stop hiding behind the mute button.

Trump campaign spokesman Jason Miller stated that Trump agreed to the ABC debate under the same terms as the Republican's debate with Biden on CNN.

"The Harris campaign, after agreeing to CNN rules, requested a seated debate with notes and opening statements, but we refused to make any changes to the previously agreed-upon rules. If Kamala Harris cannot remember the messaging points her handlers want her to repeat, that is their issue. This appears to be a recurring pattern for the Harris campaign."

"According to Miller, they won't permit Harris to conduct interviews or press conferences, and now they want to provide her with a cheat-sheet for the debate. My speculation is that they're attempting to evade any debate with President Trump."

Harris' campaign did not request a seated debate with notes allowed, according to Fallon.
