Peter Thiel should support Trump's campaign, says JD Vance: "Join the fight"
  • According to reports, Sen. JD Vance encouraged Peter Thiel to back him and former President Donald Trump for president instead of Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
  • Vance plans to continue persuading Thiel, his ex-boss, to abandon his choice not to run for president in 2024.
  • Thiel previously stated that he would support Trump over Biden if he had to choose between the two.

JD Vance, Donald Trump's presidential running mate, is urging Peter Thiel to financially support the Republican ticket, according to Vance's statement to the Financial Times.

In an interview in Wisconsin, Vance stated that he will continue to persuade Thiel, his ex-boss, to reconsider his decision to remain out of the 2024 presidential race.

The U.S. senator from Ohio stated to the FT that she would continue to converse with Peter and convince him that, although he may have been slightly fatigued by politics, he would become even more exhausted if they lost and Kamala Harris became president.

"Vance stated that he believes "He is fundamentally a conservative guy" and "needs to get off the sidelines and support the ticket.""

Vance's remarks were not immediately responded to by a representative for Thiel, and the Trump campaign was contacted for additional comment.

Thiel, the co-founder of PayPal and Palantir, backed Trump's 2016 presidential campaign with $1.25 million and later spent $15 million supporting Vance's successful Senate bid six years later.

In the early stages of his career, Vance was employed at Mithril Capital, a venture capital firm founded by Thiel.

In June, Thiel stated that he would not contribute any funds to Trump's super PAC this cycle. However, he revealed that if he had to make a choice, he would ultimately support Trump over the then-presumptive Democratic nominee, President Joe Biden.

At the Aspen Ideas Festival, Thiel stated that if a gun was pointed at his head, he would vote for Trump.

Alex Karp, Palantir's CEO and a previous Biden supporter, now backs Vice President Kamala Harris, who was nominated as the Democratic presidential candidate after Biden withdrew in July.
