On Monday, the suspect in an attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump will make his first appearance in federal court in Florida.

Ryan Wesley Routh, a 58-year-old man, will appear before Magistrate Judge Ryon McCabe at 10 a.m. ET, as per a clerk for the U.S. District Court in West Palm Beach.

On Sunday, U.S. Secret Service agents opened fire near Trump's golf course in West Palm Beach, resulting in the arrest of Routh while the Republican nominee was playing a round.

Officials announced at a news conference Sunday that a person holding a rifle with a scope was spotted in the bushes and fired multiple shots, causing them to flee the area in a black Nissan. They were later arrested in a neighboring county.

Officials reported the recovery of a rifle, two backpacks, and a GoPro camera near the golf course.

In July, during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, Trump was shot by a bullet.
