McDonald's, Wendy's, and 6 other locations are offering free or discounted fries on National French Fry Day.
On July 12, National French Fry Day, many popular restaurant chains are providing freebies and promotions to celebrate the occasion.
French fries are a beloved dish in the United States, with the average American consuming approximately 34 pounds of them annually, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. In a recent poll by YouGov, French fries were ranked as the second most popular dish in the country, following only hamburgers.
Despite the name, the source of French fries is uncertain, as stated by Britannica. According to the Thomas Jefferson Foundation, President Jefferson is commonly attributed with introducing the dish to Americans after returning from France with a recipe for "deep-fried potatoes in small pieces."
Here are eight places where you can get free or discounted fries today, this weekend, throughout July, and the rest of the year, including Arby's and Smashburger.
Arby's
In July, members of Arby's Rewards can enjoy any size fries for just $1 at participating locations.
Burger King
Members of Burger King's Royal Perks loyalty program can get one order of free fries with any $1 purchase on National French Fry day and every Friday for the rest of the year. However, this deal is not valid on delivery orders and is only available at participating locations.
Jack in the Box
From today until the end of 2024, both new and existing members of Jack In the Box's loyalty program can receive a complimentary order of any size and style of fries as long as they spend at least $1. This offer is applicable for both online and in-store orders at participating locations.
KFC
On July 12, KFC club members can receive a complimentary large fries with any online or app purchase.
Krystal
From August 18 to August 18, you can receive a complimentary order of Chili Cheese Fries when you buy a "sackful" at participating stores as part of the restaurant's Krystal Palooza promotion.
McDonald's
Members who make a $1 purchase in the McDonald's app on Fridays from now until December 31, 2024 at participating locations can receive free medium fries.
Smashburger
On July 12, 2021, you can get a complimentary regular-sized order of Smash Fries with any purchase at participating locations.
Wendy's
From now until the end of the year, you can receive a complimentary order of any size Hot & Crispy Fries with any purchase made through the Wendy's app at participating locations on Fridays.
