On Sunday, Russian aviation authorities announced that a Russian-registered plane with six people on board vanished from radar screens over Afghanistan the previous night, following reports of a crash by local Afghan police.

The French-made Dassault Falcon 10 jet, manufactured in 1978, was a charter ambulance flight traveling from India, via Uzbekistan to Moscow, according to a statement from Russian aviation authorities.

On Sunday, a provincial police spokesperson reported that police in northern Afghanistan received reports of a plane crash in Badakhshan province.

The plane crash was not a scheduled commercial flight or an Indian chartered aircraft, according to India's civil aviation authority, who are still waiting for more details.

In a remote, mountainous region of Badakhshan in Afghanistan's far north, a crash occurred overnight, according to the Afghan provincial police spokesperson in a statement.

No specifics were given about the plane's type, reason for the crash, or number of casualties, as he stated.
