CrowdStrike CEO discusses cyberattack on Israel and impact of Russia-Ukraine war on digital security

Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in late February, CEO George Kurtz stated that online hackers have become more active, as he shared with CNBC's Jim Cramer on Tuesday.

In an interview on "Mad Money," a cybersecurity executive stated that shadowy digital actors have attempted to exploit the ongoing military conflict.

Since the start of the war in Ukraine, e-crime has increased, according to Kurtz, who relied on the insights of CrowdStrike's threat intelligence unit, which has visibility in 176 countries.

As Kurtz stated, while the nation-state actors are being closely watched and discussed in relation to Ukraine and Russia, e-crime actors are using the situation as a distraction to increase their activities and steal more money.

On Feb. 24, Kurtz appeared on "Mad Money" and shared that he had been hearing from executives in the financial industry about their concerns regarding Russian cyberattacks in response to sanctions imposed on the Kremlin and its banks.

Kurtz proposed that the situation remains unchanged, and industry stakeholders are aware of it.

Currently, due to the geopolitical climate, there is a heightened concern about the financial services sector potentially facing retaliation as a result of the sanctions we have imposed on Russia.
