Akins stated in an interview on "Mad Money" that there is no doubt that the industry has been working closely with government partners to ensure cyber and physical security resiliency. He added that they are fully prepared.

In response to a question from Cramer, Akins commented on the potential impact of a Russian attack on AEP's power grid, given that the Columbus, Ohio-based electric utility serves 5.5 million customers across 11 states in the U.S.

On Thursday, the U.S. and European governments announced new sanctions against Moscow in response to its invasion of Ukraine, which occurred after weeks of increased aggression toward the neighboring country.

Russia has a history of using cyberattacks, and U.S. officials believe it was responsible for these incidents.

Kurtz stated that wiper viruses, which are designed to wipe a system, can have widespread consequences and there are no boundaries for collateral damage in cyber attacks.
