Women Leading in Business: Nominate a Changemaker for CNBC's 2025 List
  • The second annual Changemakers list by CNBC showcases women driving innovation and change in various industries, including large corporations, startups, and philanthropic organizations.
  • Despite the advancements made by women in CEO and board positions, the process of increasing the number of female CEOs remains "delicate," as stated by Sheryl Sandberg, the founder of LeanIn.org.
  • The mission of Changemakers is crucial in identifying a new generation of executives who are breaking down gender barriers and setting an example for others to follow.

CNBC is now accepting nominations for our second annual Changemakers list.

In 2024, our list will showcase women who have made significant achievements in business and philanthropy, despite the fact that only about 10% of Fortune 500 CEOs are women and female founders receive less than 2% of venture capital dollars. These trailblazing women are using innovative methods to solve age-old business problems and discovering new business opportunities.

Companies and organizations, including philanthropies, with at least $25 million in annual revenue in at least one of the past three years, or an enterprise value of $100 million for private companies and $250 million for public companies can submit a nomination for women leaders.

The deadline for submissions is Monday, Nov. 11 at 11:59 pm EST.

Our second annual Changemakers Summit is scheduled for next spring, and the list of recipients will be announced at a later date.

We have expanded our advisory board with experienced leaders from various fields to assist us in determining the criteria for selecting the women we recognize and to ensure that our selection process is inclusive.

According to some metrics, female leaders have made meaningful progress, and this year's call for nominations begins.

The percentage of women on S&P 500 boards has reached a record high this year, according to a report from executive search firm Spencer Stuart. Currently, 34% of board seats are held by women, which is a 15% increase over the past decade. Additionally, the number of female CEOs of S&P 500 companies has increased to 43 from 39 in 2023. However, Sheryl Sandberg warns that the pipeline to increase the number of female CEOs is fragile. The latest Women in the Workplace Report from LeanIn and McKinsey found that based on the current rate of change, it will take 22 years for white women and 48 years for women of color to reach parity in the workforce.

The delicate nature of advancement emphasizes the significance of the Changemakers' objective to showcase a new generation of executives who are breaking down gender boundaries and setting examples for everyone.

Submit a nomination for the 2025 Changemakers list.
