How the list is created
The 50 Best website's list was compiled with votes from 680 global industry experts, including bartenders, bar owners, drinks writers, and well-traveled cocktail experts.
Each voter can cast up to seven votes, with a maximum of five for bars in their home country. To be eligible, voters must have visited the bar at least once in the past 18 months and not own or have a financial stake in the bar they are voting for.
More bars around the globe
An extended ranking of the 50 Best organization was released a week before the ceremony, featuring the bars ranked 51 to 100. The ranking includes 34 cities, with 17 in Europe, while North and South America tied with Asia at 15 slots each.
Five spots on the extended list were held by Singapore, while Byrdi, Melbourne was the only Australian bar to make the cut.
In 2022, seven of the world's top 50 bars fell to the 51-100 ranking in 2023. Employees Only in New York experienced the largest decline, dropping 52 places from No. 47 to No. 99.
