The latest Chevrolet Corvette is the most powerful American sports car ever made, leaving all other versions far behind.

The 2025 Chevy Corvette ZR1 will be powered by a twin-turbocharged, 5.5-liter, V8 engine capable of more than 1,000 horsepower, making it the first Corvette to achieve this feat, and 828 foot-pounds of torque, placing it among the ranks of supercars that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.

"According to Tadge Juechter, Corvette's executive chief engineer since 2006, the car is expected to be the fastest car ever built by a significant margin."

The 2019 model year's most powerful Corvette was GM's last ZR1, which generated 755 horsepower and 715 foot-pounds of torque with a 6.2-liter, V8 supercharged engine.

Juechter stated that the new ZR1 will surpass the previous Corvette top speed of 212 mph with ease.

The 2025 Corvette ZR1 with the "ZTK" performance package will have its pricing announced closer to the start of production next year. The 2019 Corvette ZR1 had a starting price of $121,000.

The ZR1 is part of GM's "Corvette family," which includes the $70,000 Corvette Stingray, the hybrid E-Ray, and the $112,000 Z06 track car.

Brad Franz, director of Chevy car and crossover marketing, stated, "We're content with the current progress. This step is the next phase of our overall strategy."

An all-electric Corvette and a Corvette SUV have both been considered by GM, but the company has not provided a timeline for the release of either vehicle. GM's Franz declined to comment on either vehicle.

Analysts on Wall Street believe that GM could increase revenue from the Corvette brand by introducing new models and expanding sales. Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas estimated the value of a Corvette sub-brand to be between $7 billion and $12 billion in late 2019.

For the past two years, the Chevrolet Corvette has sold approximately 34,500 vehicles. In 2019, the automaker revamped the sports car's design, switching from a front-engine to a mid-engine layout to enhance performance and handling.

Low-volume vehicles like the ZR1 are designed to generate excitement for the brand and encourage drivers to consider less expensive Corvettes.

"The ZR1 is the flagship model that will attract a lot of attention and help sell other models. It is part of the company's strategy to maintain relevance over a longer period."

The average transaction price of Corvette has been increased to approximately $106,000 due to the influence of other performance models.

The average buyer of the track-focused Z06 has a household income of $311,000, and it is predicted that the price point will increase with the launch of ZR1 and sales growth of the track-focused Z06.

Boosting revenue for the Corvette can be achieved through the sale of the hybrid version, which costs around $105,000. GM plans to increase production of the E-Ray to 10% of total capacity from the current 2% to 3%.

Since 2019, the sole plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky, that produces Corvette has been operating on two shifts due to the performance trickle-down effect.
