The new entry-level 2025 Cadillac Optiq electric vehicle will cost $54,000, the company announced on Wednesday.
The fourth electric vehicle to be released by Cadillac, a compact-sized crossover, will hit the market later this year. It will follow the Lyriq midsize crossover, Celestiq sedan, and Escalade IQ SUV. The price does not include EV incentives, such as federal credits of up to $7,500.
Cadillac has always been synonymous with American luxury, and Optiq is a testament to our commitment to pushing boundaries and embracing the electric vehicle revolution, according to John Roth, vice president of Cadillac.
The Optiq will be available in 10 regions, including North America, China, and Europe, where it was unveiled at a new Cadillac showroom in Paris on Wednesday.
As automakers strive to increase the popularity of EVs, they are introducing more affordable models in response to sluggish sales of the technology.
The Optiq presents an opportunity for GM to reenter the European market and regain ground in China after selling its operations there in 2017 and experiencing notable sales and earnings declines in recent years.
The vehicle's design resembles Cadillac's current EVs, featuring vertical and horizontal lights, a black grille, a 33-inch diagonal LED interior display, and GM's Super Cruise hands-free driver-assistance system.
The vehicle is available in Luxury and Sport trims and comes equipped with an 85-kilowatt-hour battery pack and a dual motor all-wheel drive propulsion system that provides an estimated 300 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque.
The electric range of Optiq is estimated to be 300 miles on a single charge. GM stated that the vehicle can add approximately 79 miles of range in about 10 minutes with a DC fast charger.
The vehicle will be produced at GM's Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico.
