The Kansas City Chiefs, led by Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, are traveling to Las Vegas for a chance to repeat their Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers in a rematch of their 2017 game.

On Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs defeated Lamar Jackson and the top-seeded Baltimore Ravens 17-10 in the AFC championship game, while the San Francisco 49ers rallied to a 34-31 win over the Detroit Lions in the NFC title game a few hours later.

The Kansas City Chiefs, with a record of 14-6, are striving to become the first team to win back-to-back championships since Tom Brady and the New England Patriots accomplished this feat following the 2003-04 seasons.

The big question at the upcoming Super Bowl in Las Vegas is whether Kelce's girlfriend Taylor Swift will be able to attend, as she is currently on tour. On Sunday, Kelce set a new record for postseason receptions, surpassing Jerry Rice's career mark.

The Kansas City Chiefs (14-6) will face either San Francisco or Detroit on February 11th, and a win would make them the first team to win it all in consecutive seasons since the New England Patriots 19 years ago.

Despite Swift's addition to the team, the Chiefs' on-field performance this season has been more blue-collar than glamorous. While Kelce has been impressive, Mahomes' playmakers haven't been as threatening as in previous seasons.

Purdy, who was not yet the last pick of the 2022 NFL draft when the teams last played in the Super Bowl, will attempt to lead the 49ers (14-5) to their sixth title and tie the record for the most Super Bowl appearances.

At Allegiant Stadium on Feb. 12, the teams will meet. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the 49ers were initially favored by 2 1/2 points.

In the 2020 Super Bowl, Mahomes and the Chiefs came back from a 20-10 fourth-quarter deficit to defeat the 49ers 31-20, giving coach Andy Reid his first victory. However, in the following year's Super Bowl, Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers prevented Kansas City from repeating their title.

The Chiefs will be the third team to play in four Super Bowls in five years, following the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1970s and the Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots in the 1990s and 2000s and 2010s, respectively.

Last year, Mahomes led the Chiefs to a 38-35 comeback win over the Eagles in the Super Bowl. This season, the Chiefs beat Miami 26-7 in the wild-card round and defeated the Bills 27-24 in Buffalo, marking Mahomes' first career playoff game on the road besides Super Bowls.

Last year, the Eagles overwhelmed the 49ers in the NFC title game, resulting in Purdy's significant elbow injury that necessitated surgery. Despite this, Purdy returned for the season opener and helped the team earn a first-round bye. Last week, Purdy led the Niners to a 24-21 comeback win over Green Bay, bringing them back from a 17-point deficit against the Lions.

Since the 1994 season, only New England and Pittsburgh have more Super Bowl wins than San Francisco.

Reid will lead a team in the Super Bowl for the fifth time, tying Tom Landry for third most behind Bill Belichick's nine and Don Shula's six. Reid previously coached the Eagles when the Patriots defeated them to repeat 19 years ago.

Kyle Shanahan, the coach of the Niners, is returning to the Super Bowl for the second time after losing to Reid in his first attempt. During his time as Atlanta's offensive coordinator, the Falcons lost a 28-3 lead against Brady and the Patriots in Super Bowl 51.

In his fourth Super Bowl appearance, Mahomes will join the ranks of Joe Montana, Terry Bradshaw, Peyton Manning, Roger Staubach, and Jim Kelly, who are all tied for the third-most Super Bowl starts, with 10 being the most by Brady and five by Elway.

Will Taylor Swift be able to attend the Super Bowl on Feb. 11 to watch her boyfriend, even though she has a concert scheduled in Japan the day before?
