Step Inside the $270,000 a Week French Chateau Known as 'Little Versailles': Hosted by Thomas Jefferson and Tom Cruise
A stroll through history is what Chateau de Villette offers, not just a French manor house.
The chateau, constructed in the 17th century with the aid of Jules Hardouin-Mansart and Andre Le Notre, who were also key contributors to the construction of the renowned Palace of Versailles, boasts seven lavish suites in the main house, all designed in the style of Louis XV's era.
The grounds are equally magnificent, featuring 75 hectares of woods, numerous lakes, and intricately designed gardens.
The chateau, once a popular destination for intellectuals like Jefferson and Paine, now hosts celebrities such as Tom Cruise and author Dan Brown, whose "The Da Vinci Code" was filmed there.
The chateau's history is a major selling point, but many modern additions were made after it was purchased by The Heritage Collection in 2011, as stated by Suzanne Isore, author of a book on the chateau's history.
Under my feet lies a 15-ton block of stone that descends to reveal the chateau's swimming pool, she told CNBC.
The chateau, situated 40 minutes from Paris' city center, is available for rent at approximately $270,000 per week.
