Stellantis unveils revamped Ram heavy-duty trucks.
  • Stellantis has revamped its large Ram heavy-duty trucks following three consecutive years of sales decreases.
  • The new Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups are anticipated to be available in U.S. dealerships in the first quarter of this year, with a starting price of $47,560.
  • The rollouts of Ram's redesigned trucks have been significantly delayed, resulting in harm to the automaker.

The large Ram heavy-duty trucks of DETROIT have been redesigned, with the hope that the updates will help reverse the three consecutive years of sales declines for the brand.

The new Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups and chassis cab trucks boast updated interior and exterior designs, along with a powerful 6.7-liter Cummins turbo diesel engine that generates 430 horsepower and a best-in-class 1,075 foot-pounds of torque, according to the manufacturer.

In the first quarter of this year, U.S. dealers will receive heavy-duty trucks that will cost around $2,300 more than current models, with a starting price of $47,560.

The Ram 1500 pickup, which was released last year, is being rolled out in a delayed manner, followed by its smaller sibling.

The rollout of the Ram 1500 is improving, according to Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis, who returned to the automaker in December after retiring in May.

"Kuniskis admitted during a media event that the launch of the heavy-duty trucks on the 1500 truck had been significantly delayed. He stated that they should have had the trucks fully launched by summer. However, he acknowledged that the situation was improving daily."

In 2024, American brands such as Ram experienced a 19% year-over-year decline in sales, with a 16% drop in sales specifically for their pickup trucks. In contrast, competitors like Chevrolet reported stable sales for their pickups.

Kuniskis stated that the 1500 model rollout has contributed to the decline in sales for the brand, as they've been receiving a lot of criticism.

Many heavy-duty truck customers who use their vehicles for work-related jobs, such as hauling and towing, prefer the diesel engine option. The alternative engine option is a 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 that provides 405 horsepower and 429 foot-pounds of torque.

In 2025, the Ram Heavy Duty lineup will consist of the Tradesman, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Rebel, Power Wagon, Limited Longhorn, and Limited models. These trucks are manufactured in Saltillo, Mexico.
