SpaceX's Starlink to Provide United Airlines with Free In-Flight Wi-Fi
- SpaceX has previously inked deals with Hawaiian Airlines and semi-private airline JSX.
- Carriers, including Delta, have been investing in quicker inflight Wi-Fi and providing it for free.
SpaceX announced on Friday that it will provide free inflight Wi-Fi from its Starlink system on its hundreds of jetliners, marking the largest inflight internet deal for the SpaceX business.
The team-up comes as airlines have been investing in faster inflight Wi-Fi.
For years, has offered free Wi-Fi for its SkyMiles loyalty program members.
SpaceX also previously made a deal with semi-private airline JSX.
Since its launch in 2020, SpaceX has consistently grown its Starlink network and product line. Currently, there are over 6,000 Starlink satellites in orbit, providing internet access to more than 3 million customers in 100 countries. Initially aimed at consumer customers, SpaceX has since expanded into other markets, including aviation.
