The US transport safety regulator announced on Thursday that it has initiated an investigation into 1,732,000 vehicles due to reports of unintentional braking, which increases the likelihood of accidents.

A week after the agency announced a formal investigation into 416,000 Tesla vehicles due to complaints of unexpected brake activation linked to the Autopilot driver assistance system, the probe has been launched.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has received 278 complaints about braking incidents that occurred with no obstructions in the vehicle's path, and six of these complaints resulted in minor injuries.

The NHTSA announced that the 2018-2019 Honda Accord and 2017-2019 Honda CR-V will be subject to an investigation.

Before issuing a formal recall demand, NHTSA conducts a preliminary evaluation in the first phase.
