The National Football League has partnered with Cosm, an immersive technology company that uses "shared reality" to broadcast live sports events.
The NFL will be played at Cosm's venues for the rest of the 2024 season as part of the deal.
The deal entails broadcasting every Thursday night football game on , all Sunday night games on , every Monday night football game on and select games on Sunday with .
The company, founded in 2020 by Mirasol Capital, offers a fully immersive "shared reality" experience using a 360-degree dome with giant 8K LED screens.
The average ticket price for the domes ranges from $22 to $127, and the seating capacity is around 700 people. Cosm employs a dynamic pricing model, similar to concerts or live sports.
"Jeb Terry, president and CEO at Cosm, stated that what sets the NFL apart is the widespread fandom, which is evident through fans wearing jerseys, bringing Terrible Towels, cow bells, and having a great time, as if they were at the stadium."
The NFL deal's financial specifics were not made public by the company.
Cosm has opened its doors in Los Angeles and Dallas this summer and has announced its third venue in downtown Atlanta, with future locations to be announced soon.
The NBA, UFC, ESPN, NBC Sports, TNT Sports, Fox Sports, and Amazon Prime Video are already partners with Cosm, which broadcasts events such as the Summer Olympics in Paris and the current World Series.
In seven minutes, tickets for the first game of the World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees sold out, while the second game sold out in just one minute.
"Inventory is flying off the shelf," Terry said.
Cosm offers a variety of programs beyond live sports, such as an animated journey through space and a Cirque du Soleil show, to fill lunch and matinee hours when live sports are not available.
With changing viewing habits, Cosm is experiencing rapid success through its tech-forward approach.
Membership rewards and season passes will soon be introduced by the venues, as Terry stated, and they are already seeing repeat customers.
In July, the company secured over $250 million in funding to expand globally. Cosm's valuation exceeds $1 billion, and its investors include prominent sports figures such as Marc Lasry, Dan Gilbert, and David Blitzer.
