According to an email from Caesars Sportsbooks vice president of trading, Craig Mucklow, the tournament was for customers as favorites covered the spread 61% of the time.
Betting on the women's tournament was particularly lucrative for the sportsbooks.
The undefeated season of South Carolina and the heroics of superstar Caitlin Clark led to a massive influx of bets, with FanDuel and Fanatics reporting their single biggest betting event on women's sports. Caesars also reported that the women's championship game saw double the previous handle record for a women's college basketball game.
