In Ohio, Honda unveils two new electric vehicles from the '0 Series' line.
  • Honda Motor unveiled its latest line of electric vehicles, which will be manufactured at a billion-dollar facility in Ohio.
  • The Honda 0 Saloon and Honda 0 SUV are the vehicles being showcased.
  • The SUV and Saloon based on the prototypes are expected to launch in North America in 2026, with production models to follow.

At the CES tech conference on Tuesday, the company unveiled its latest electric vehicles, which will be manufactured at a multibillion-dollar complex in central Ohio.

The Honda 0 Saloon and Honda 0 SUV are prototypes of vehicles that were revealed last year at CES. These vehicles are intended for customer production but may undergo some changes before being released.

Honda announced that production models based on both prototypes will launch in North America in 2026, beginning with the SUV and then the Saloon. The automaker did not disclose specific information about the new EVs, including pricing, range, and performance.

Honda's new 0 Series vehicles are designed with three core principles: "Thin, light and wise," and their exteriors feature sleek, future-esque designs that differ significantly from their current models.

American Honda Motor automobile sales' vice president, Lance Woelfer, stated that the automaker utilized feedback from the previously unveiled vehicles to create the new models.

"He explained to CNBC that the purpose of doing it is to obtain input and feedback from the community, which in turn boosts our confidence."

On Tuesday, Honda unveiled a new operating system for its Honda 0 Series vehicles called "Asimo OS," which includes highly automated driving technologies such as hands-free driving.

Honda first unveiled Asimo, its humanoid robot, at CES over 20 years ago.

Honda intends to equip all Honda 0 Series models, including the Honda 0 SUV and Honda 0 Saloon production versions, with Asimo OS.

The potential impact of the announced merger plans between Honda and another Japanese automaker on the company's product plans is unclear.

Honda unveiled its first 0 Series EV model, the AFEELA 1, a day after its partnership with Sony, Afeela, was announced. The car is set to be sold in California this year and deliveries will begin in 2026.

The largest EV market in the country is California, where automakers frequently introduce such models to boost sales and adhere to the state's stringent fuel economy and emissions standards.

The AFEELA 1 sedan will be offered in two trims, with prices beginning at $89,900, as stated by the company.
