Theme parks are drawing in thrill-seekers of all ages, but it's not just gravity-defying rides and immersive attractions that they're looking forward to.

In recent years, food and beverage options have become a crucial aspect of the entertainment industry, with [Company Name] being at the forefront of providing innovative and tasty meals, snacks, and drinks to visitors.

Disney has consistently been at the forefront of culinary advancements, introducing distinctive park treats such as Mickey Mouse-shaped ice cream bars and pretzels, in addition to Dole Whips and themed candied apples and cookies.

According to Dennis Speigel, president of International Theme Parks Services, rides and attractions are the top reason people visit parks, followed closely by food and beverage. He stated, "It's a fact. Parks have recognized this trend in the last 20 years and have started building new attractions that incorporate food and beverage options."

Disney's new Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser experience is a two-day immersive journey where guests live a Star Wars story for 48 hours, unlike its themed lands like Pandora, Galaxy's Edge, and Avenger's Campus.

The team led by chef Brian Piasecki had to develop a comprehensive food program that would be delivered to guests over two days.

Disney is showcasing some of its more ambitious and delectable food and beverage creations onboard the Halcyon.

Star Wars-themed dishes were created by Piasecki for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, making them accessible to guests while maintaining an upscale atmosphere. Lunch buffets, for instance, include familiar dishes such as grilled cheese and tomato soup, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and salads, all with a unique Star Wars twist.

The uniquely shaped food trays, with three rectangular depressions, are perfect for the breakfast and lunch buffets onboard the Halcyon. They have a sci-fi aesthetic and are incredibly functional, making them ideal for trying a variety of dishes.

Speigel emphasized the importance of improving quality, service, style, and plating in the industry, stating that it is currently under scrutiny. He believes this focus on enhancing the overall experience will remain a priority forever.

A history of innovation

In 2017, Disney launched a new theme park land based on the planet Pandora from James Cameron's film "Avatar," marking a new era of innovation in its use of food design to elevate traditional fare.

Disney had the chance to develop its unique cuisine with the new land, taking inspiration from a movie about an alien planet. Chefs incorporated spices from Argentinian, Brazilian, and Chinese cooking to create a distinctive flavor profile for the food.

Bill Coan, president and CEO of iTEC Entertainment, stated, "Disney is leveraging this strategy to enhance the visitor experience and simultaneously increase revenue."

On vacation, guests are less strict with their diets and often try out unique menu items that they cannot find elsewhere, according to Coan.

At Satu’li Canteen, customers can create their own grain bowls by selecting a base of quinoa or vegetable salad, red or sweet potato hash, mixed whole grain and rice, or romaine and kale salad. They can then top their bowls with grilled chicken, roasted beef, shrimp, or chili-spiced tofu, and choose from a variety of dressing options.

"Pods," or bao buns, are also on the menu and contain either a cheeseburger or vegetable curry inside steamed buns.

The culinary team created special desserts for the themed land, including a blueberry cream cheese mouse with passion fruit curd and a chocolate cake with crunchy cookie crumbs and banana cream topping.

Parkgoers share their appetizing and photographable food experiences at the parks on Instagram, inspiring others to try new dishes.

Pongu Pongu, a themed Tiki bar near the canteen, offers both alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks for Pandora's customers.

Taste a galaxy far, far away

In 2019, Disney launched two Galaxy's Edge locations, one in Florida and one in California, showcasing its continued innovation.

Docking Bay 7 is the main dining location where guests can enjoy the Braised Shaak Roast (beef with pasta) or the Felucian Garden Spread (vegan meatballs with hummus), along with other menu items.

The Ronto Wrap, a grilled sausage and roasted pork wrap with a spicy slaw, is a must-try at Ronto Roasters. Be sure to have a drink on hand, as it has a spicy kick.

You can quench your thirst with a glass of Phattro, a refreshing drink that combines the flavors of half lemonade and half iced tea, with a hint of pear juice, while enjoying the California park.

At Oga's Cantina, Star Wars enthusiasts can indulge in their love for scoundrels by ordering unique and exotic drinks such as Fuzzy Tauntaun, Jedi Mind Trick, and Bloody Rancor.

Those who want to avoid alcohol can opt for mixed drinks such as the Carbon Freeze and Hyperdrive, which consist of fruit juices, popping pearls, and dry ice.

Oga's reservations fill up quickly, and often their specialty drink mugs are out of stock.

Speigel stated that Disney recognizes the importance of delivering high-quality theming and service to satisfy guests and encourage purchases.

In the themed land park, visitors can buy special Coca-Cola products. The beverage company collaborated with Disney to create unique Coke, Sprite, and Dasani bottles that fit into the Batuu world. The sodas resemble thermal detonators from the Star Wars films and feature the brand names in Aurebesh, the fictional language of Star Wars.

Down to Earth food

The challenge for Disneyland's Avengers Campus, which opened in 2021, was to innovate traditional American food.

The culinary team at Disney opted to incorporate its superhero theme into the menu by utilizing Ant-Man and the Wasp to create distinctive dishes.

The main dining area in Avengers Campus is known as Pym Test Kitchen, where scientists employ growing and shrinking technology to create enormous and tiny dishes. Visitors can indulge in chicken sandwiches with gigantic chicken patties, spaghetti and meatballs with a single large meatball, and soft pretzels that are the size of a head, among other options.

Pym Tasting Lab, located next door, is a haven for adults seeking to savor craft beers and unique cocktails. The mixologists at this establishment experiment with flavors, providing an extensive selection of ingredients that range from habanero and mango to lemon and vanilla.

Two food carts are available, one of which is Shawarma Palace, a reference to the famous mid-credits scene from "The Avengers."

This booth, known as Terran Treats, is situated near the Guardians of the Galaxy ride and offers a range of foods that parody traditional human delicacies. Some of the items on offer include circular rainbow churros and bright purple cream puffs.

Venturing back to space

Disney raised the bar with the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser experience, drawing on its knowledge from Pandora, Galaxy's Edge, and Avengers Campus.

The two-day experience includes all meals, with buffet-style breakfast and lunch options for guests to choose from a variety of dishes and eat to their heart's content.

Eating it is enjoyable and satisfying, as Speigel stated.

The dining room has a traditional soda fountain and offers free Blue Milk and Green Milk, which are exclusive to Galaxy's Edge. However, only special alcoholic beverages need to be purchased separately.

On the first night on board the Halcyon, guests can enjoy a set menu for dinner, which includes colorful bao buns and noodles. As they dine, the galactic songstress Gaya will perform a mix of pop, jazz, and rhythm and blues.

Gaya's outfit colors are reflected in the different-colored bao buns, as pointed out by Chef Piasecki.

The second course was served family style at each table and included Bantha Beef Tenderloin, Tip Yip Chicken, Stewed Shrimp, Green Herbed Fluffy Rice, and Surabat Spiced Flora.

The beef tenderloin was coated with tamarind, accompanied by potatoes, the chicken was marinated in bourbon and lightly fried, the shrimp was infused with lemon grass and served with coconut-lime foam, the rice was seasoned with herbs, and the vegetables were roasted with Harissa spice.

On the second night, the dinner was a "galactic feast" with dishes inspired by various planets in the Star Wars universe. Disney's culinary skills were showcased during this meal.

The courses were served all at once, with numerous crew members rushing into the dining room to deliver the plates. The menu included a cheese and bread dish inspired by the molten planet Mustafar, blue shrimp from the jungles of Felucia that arrived billowing in cool smoke, and a beef and seafood plate from the Wookie home world of Kashyyyk.

The Galactic Starcruiser offers alternative menu options for those with less adventurous tastes or dietary requirements.

The Crown of Corellia Dining Room and the Sublight Lounge both offer alcoholic beverages for purchase, including elevated signature cocktails based on traditional drinks.

The Hoth Icebreaker is a lemon drop martini served in a blue glass with vanilla and lemon foam, and an isomalt sugar garnish.

Speigel believes that Disney's innovations with the starcruiser and menu will have a significant impact on the entire industry.
