Cadillac unveils 2023 Escalade as part of V-Series

The Cadillac Escalade SUV line has been updated by Detroit, with the addition of a new version to its expanding range of high-performance gasoline vehicles, in preparation for the automaker's goal of complete electrification by 2035.

The 2023 Cadillac Escalade V-Series, like its other performance vehicles, will embody the pinnacle of Cadillac performance, distinctive design, and advanced technology.

The new V-Series SUV is expected to offer significantly more performance than current Escalade SUVs, with its engine sounding more like a sports car than a full-size SUV, as shown in videos released by the automaker.

The Escalade V-Series is expected to be a high-performance vehicle, powered by a 6.2-liter V-8 engine that generates 668 horsepower and 659 foot-pounds of torque, according to media reports. This engine is currently used in the CT5-V Blackwing sedan and is more powerful than the current Escalade's 6.2-liter V-8 engine, which produces 420 horsepower and 460 foot-pounds of torque.

A spokesperson for General Motors declined to provide additional details about the new vehicle, stating that more information will be released in the spring.

To boost their profit margins, automakers are increasingly introducing performance variants to their lineups, before shifting more towards electric vehicles, which provide high performance but lower profit margins compared to gas-powered cars.

By 2030, the Escalade line will exclusively offer electric vehicles, leading GM's target to achieve 100% electric vehicle sales by 2035.
