The companies announced Monday that they are teaming up to launch a new ready-to-drink and premixed cocktail beginning 2024.
The new cocktail will consist of Absolut Vodka and Sprite, with two versions available: regular Sprite and Sprite Zero Sugar. The launch is set for early next year in select European countries, including the UK, Netherlands, Spain, and Germany.
The ready-to-drink beverages category in the spirits industry has experienced significant growth in recent years, with a 2022 report from the Distilled Spirits Council of the U.S. indicating that it is the fastest-growing category in both revenue and volume. However, the report did not specify when Absolut and Sprite drinks would be introduced to the U.S. market.
In recent years, Coke has added a variety of new alcoholic drinks to its portfolio, including the Jack-and-Coke cocktail in a can from last year.
Coca-Cola CEO James Quincey announced that the company is expanding in the alcohol ready-to-drink space, including products that use select brands from its core portfolio. In a statement, he said, "We are excited about our new relationship with Pernod Ricard and look forward to the introduction of Absolut & Sprite."
Lemon-lime soft drinks such as Sprite are commonly used as mixers in premixed cocktails that are made with vodka as the base.
