Two female employees were stabbed at the Museum of Modern Art in midtown Manhattan on Saturday afternoon, resulting in an evacuation of the location, according to a New York City Police Department spokeswoman.

The spokeswoman stated that the victims were in stable condition and were transported to Bellevue Hospital.

Earlier this week, the alleged suspect's museum membership card was revoked due to two separate incidents that occurred in recent days, according to John Miller, deputy commissioner of public information.

The man is accused of entering the museum with his card, bypassing the reception and repeatedly stabbing the two women.

The police are working to locate the individual who was recorded on video leaving the area, Miller said.

The art museum was evacuated as people shared videos and pictures of police cars surrounding the entrance on social media.

Alyssa Katz, deputy editor of The City, tweeted about going to meet friends at the Museum of Modern Art and being greeted by a stampede of people fleeing.
