Beginning Tuesday, all U.S. stores will carry olive oil-infused drinks from the company.
In February 2023, Oleato, a line of olive oil-infused coffee drinks, debuted in Italy after former CEO Howard Schultz noticed locals drinking olive oil daily. The drinks launched in select U.S. Starbucks stores the following month, but received negative early reviews, with The New Yorker describing the drink as tasting like a large spoonful of olive oil in coffee.
According to Starbucks, Oleato means "with oil" in Italian and refers to a line that includes a latte and an iced espresso drink.
Starbucks has introduced Oleato Golden Foam, a vanilla sweet cream infused with Partanna extra virgin olive oil that can be added to any Starbucks drink. The company has also added four recommended customizations for the foam that can be accessed through the Starbucks app.
The launch comes on the same day Starbucks will report fourth-quarter earnings.
