In the second half of 2023, Cava opened 30 net new locations and plans to open at least 48 this year.

2. Scooter's Coffee

The Midwestern coffee chain, founded in 1998 in Nebraska, has recently started expanding aggressively through franchised locations. In 2023, Scooter's net new locations experienced a 53% increase from the previous year, making it the fastest-growing restaurant brand on Yelp's list.

3. LongHorn Steakhouse

At the conclusion of Darden's fiscal 2023, the steakhouse chain had over 560 locations across the country. Despite the pandemic, the casual-dining chain has consistently outperformed the industry average in sales, thanks in part to the robust growth of its takeout business.

Darden aims to launch at least 50 new outlets under all its brands in fiscal 2024.

4. The Habit Burger Grill

Since acquiring the California-based burger chain in 2020, Yum has been rapidly expanding Habit Burger Grill. By the end of 2023, the chain had 378 locations on the East and West coasts, despite having a smaller footprint compared to Yum's other chains: Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and KFC.

5. Wawa

6. Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen

The success of Popeyes' famous chicken sandwich has fueled its growth in the U.S. and beyond, encouraging franchisees to open more locations and attracting new operators to join the brand, Restaurant Brands executives have previously stated.

In 2023, Chick-fil-A remained the most popular chicken chain in the U.S., with Popeyes surpassing KFC as the second-most popular chain in terms of sales.

7. Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers

In 2021, Thompson Street Capital Partners acquired the Midwestern fast-casual chain Freddy's for an undisclosed sum. Last year, Freddy's opened 62 new locations, breaking its development record and reaching a total of 500 locations.

8. Rally House

Yelp's report ranks Rally House as the only apparel retailer among the top 10, with a focus on team gear and sports apparel for professional and college teams. The store has been setting new opening records, with seven locations opened in a single weekend in August. Although its stores are primarily located in the Midwest, they now extend from Pennsylvania to Arizona.

9. Olive Garden

The Italian-inspired chain is the standout of our portfolio, generating nearly half of our overall revenue. Additionally, it's the unique casual-dining chain to expand with 20 new locations in fiscal 2023.

10. Jersey Mike's Subs

Despite being based in New Jersey, most of Jersey Mike's restaurants are now located in California, Texas, and Florida.
