On Tuesday, German headquarters were raided as part of a years-long tax investigation, the company confirmed to CNBC in a statement.
A spokesperson stated that customs and tax regulations for products imported into Germany are being investigated by authorities over a five-year period from October 2019 to August of this year.
Investigators searched offices at Adidas' headquarters in Herzogenaurach, as well as other locations, in relation to the matter. Adidas has previously provided relevant documents and information to customs authorities and has been in contact with them over the last several years.
Adidas stated that the investigation is not expected to have a significant financial impact on the company.
The company is collaborating with customs authorities to resolve issues resulting from conflicting interpretations of German and European law.
The sneaker maker is currently facing a tax investigation, which comes after its tumultuous split with Ye, the ex-Kanye West, due to his antisemitic remarks.
In extended trading, shares experienced a slight increase.
