New Wells Fargo Attune Card Offers 4% Cash Back Categories, $100 Bonus, and No Annual Fee

The Wells Fargo Attune℠ World Elite Mastercard® is a new cash rewards card that provides up to 4% back on unique bonus spending categories not commonly found on competitor credit cards.

The Attune credit card is among the top no-annual-fee cash-back cards due to its 4% rewards, and here's how to get the welcome bonus and take advantage of its benefits.

Wells Fargo Attune World Elite Mastercard details

New cardholders of the Wells Fargo Attune World Elite Mastercard receive a $100 cash bonus after spending $500 in qualifying purchases in the first three months.

For a limited time, Wells Fargo will donate $50 to Capital Link for each new cardholder who qualifies for the welcome bonus, which supports clean energy solutions for health centers in local communities during power outages. Additionally, new cardholders will receive an introductory 0% APR on purchases during the first 12 months from account opening (after either 20.24%, 25.24%, or 29.99%).

An impressive 4% cash back is earned by the Attune on categories that are rarely seen with rewards cards.

  • Rewards of 4% on purchases related to self-care, which encompass gym memberships, exercise classes, salons, and spas.
  • Select sports, recreation, and entertainment including live shows and sporting events, gardening and floral stores, pet supplies, boarding, and grooming offer 4% cash rewards.
  • Rewritten: Cash rewards of 4% are offered on purchases that have a positive impact on the planet, such as public transportation, EV charging stations, and certain thrift stores.
  • 1% on other purchases

If you own a pet and prioritize self-care, you can earn a lot of rewards with Wells Fargo's 4% categories. This card pairs well with the Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express, which earns 3% cash back at U.S. supermarkets (up to $6,000 per year in purchases, then 1%). Terms apply.

You can convert your cash rewards from Attune into transferable travel points if you have either the $95-annual-fee Wells Fargo Autograph Journey℠ Card or the no-annual-fee Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card.

With the launch of the Autograph Journey, Wells Fargo informed CNBC Select that any Wells Fargo-branded consumer cardholders could convert their rewards into transferable points if they have a Wells Fargo card that enables rewards transfers. This means that you could earn 4% in cash rewards on purchases with the no-annual-fee Attune card and combine the cash rewards with the Autograph or Autograph Journey. Then, you can transfer those points to partners. However, if you only have the Attune card, you cannot transfer rewards to travel partners.

Current Wells Fargo transfer partners include:

  • Aer Lingus AerClub
  • Air France/KLM Flying Blue (partners with Delta)
  • Avianca LifeMiles (partners with United)
  • British Airways Executive Club (partners with American Airlines and Alaska Airlines)
  • Iberia Plus (partners with American Airlines and Alaska Airlines)
  • Choice Privileges

The conversion ratio for all programs except Choice Privileges is 1:1.

Attune card benefits

The Attune card, being a no-annual-fee card, does not offer as many credit card insurance benefits and perks as premium cards. However, it includes auto rental collision damage waiver (secondary coverage for rentals in the U.S.) and cell phone insurance.

To avoid a 3% foreign transaction fee, look for a card with no foreign transaction fees for international travels.

How to qualify for the Attune

The issuer of the Attune card will not approve you if you have opened another Wells Fargo-branded credit card in the past six months, despite the fact that Wells Fargo does not limit the number of cards you can have with them.

If you currently have an Attune card or opened one within the last 48 months from your application date, Wells Fargo will not apply introductory annual percentage rates, fees, or rewards bonus offers. This restriction applies even if you have previously closed the old card. However, this restriction does not apply to those getting the card for the first time. Keep this in mind if you plan to close the card and then reapply in the future.

Alternatives to the Attune

The Chase Freedom Flex® card offers 5% cash back on rotating categories, 5% cash back on travel through Chase Travel℠, 3% on dining including takeout and drug stores, and 1% on all other purchases. Additionally, if you have the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or Chase Sapphire Reserve®, you can combine the rewards earned from the Flex and transfer them to 14 airline and hotel travel partners.

If you want a single cash-back card that offers unlimited 2% cash rewards on all purchases without having to worry about which card gets the most rewards at the store you're shopping at, the Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card could be a better fit for you.
