How to earn and redeem rewards
Earning Citi ThankYou® Points
The Citi Strata Premier℠ Card earns rewards at the following rates:
- 10X points on hotels, car rentals and attractions booked on CitiTravel.com
- 3X points on air travel and other hotel purchases
- 3X points at restaurants
- 3X points at supermarkets
- 3X points on gas and EV charging stations
- 1X points on all other purchases
Redeeming Citi ThankYou® Points
The worth of Citi ThankYou® Points fluctuates based on how they are redeemed, but a minimum value of one cent per point applies.
You can redeem ThankYou® Points for a statement credit, direct deposit, or check at one cent per point. Additionally, you'll receive the same return when redeeming points for gift cards or Citi Travel bookings. However, it's important to avoid redemptions that give you less than one cent per point, such as using points for Amazon purchases.
To maximize the worth of your points, it is recommended to transfer them to the various hotel and airline loyalty programs that Citi partners with. You can transfer ThankYou® Points to numerous partners, such as Etihad Guest, Qatar Airways Privilege Club, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, Choice Privileges, and many more. This enables you to select the most suitable program for your desired travel booking.
You can transfer United Airlines points to Turkish Airlines for domestic flights within the U.S., which only requires 20,000 miles per roundtrip. Additionally, with Citi becoming the exclusive American Airlines card issuer in 2026, there is speculation that the AAdvantage program may eventually become a Citi transfer partner, making ThankYou® Points more valuable.
You can transfer your ThankYou® Points to Choice Privileges at a 1:2 ratio, and Choice charges 8,000 to 35,000 points per night for most hotels (some luxury hotels can cost 55,000+ per night). Therefore, you can book a five- or seven-night stay with the Citi Strata Premier Card's welcome bonus.
Rates and fees
The Citi Strata Premier℠ Card has an annual fee of $95 and does not charge foreign transaction fees. However, it does not offer an introductory 0% APR period on balance transfers or purchases.
Card comparison
Citi Strata Premier℠ Card vs. Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card
Both the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and Citi Strata Premier℠ Card have an annual fee of $95 and allow you to transfer earned points to a variety of loyalty programs.
The Citi Strata Premier offers more rewards on gas and EV charging, airfare and hotel bookings, and at supermarkets, while the Sapphire Preferred provides more rewards on select streaming services and travel purchases that don't include flights or hotel bookings. Since streaming services are typically a small part of any budget and flights and hotels are usually the most expensive travel costs, the Citi Strata Premier is likely to be more rewarding for most people.
The Sapphire Preferred offers more benefits than the Strata Premier, including travel accident and baggage delay insurance, primary car rental collision coverage, and a 25% bonus on travel redemptions and a 10% points bonus every year.

Citi Strata Premier℠ Card vs. Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card
The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card is a suitable choice if you prefer a more straightforward rewards program. It offers the same $95 annual fee as the Citi Strata Premier℠ Card and earns at least 2X miles on every purchase.
Although the Capital One Venture Rewards Card earns less than Strata Premier on bonus category spending, it only earns 33% less for most transactions and double the rewards on all purchases outside the Strata Premier's bonus categories. Additionally, the Capital One Venture card offers a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fee credit of up to $120 once every four years.
