American Express is planning to open a new Centurion Lounge at Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) in 2025. The lounge will feature an outdoor terrace, a full-service coffee bar, a wide selection of drinks, and a rotating menu with local ingredients.
CNBC Select provides information on what to anticipate at the new lounge and how to access it.
How to access Amex Centurion Lounges
To visit the SLC Amex Centurion Lounge or any of the other 20+ Centurion Lounges globally, you must have the appropriate American Express card.
Only a limited number of publicly available rewards cards provide access to these exclusive lounges as a benefit.
You can access the Centurion Lounge up to three hours before your flight departs with an American Express Platinum or Business Platinum card, provided there is space available. To use this benefit, you must present your card, a valid government-issued I.D., and a same-day boarding pass. If your child is between 2 and 17 years old, there is a $50 fee per guest; however, if your child is under 2 years old, the fee is $30 per person (children under 2 years old are free with proof of age).
To be eligible for the complimentary guest benefit at Centurion Lounges, you must spend $75,000 or more on your card in a calendar year. This perk allows you to bring two free guests to eligible Centurion Lounges. The benefit expires on Jan. 31 the year after the year you qualify. Terms apply.
Delta SkyMiles Reserve and Delta SkyMiles Reserve Business cards allow access to Centurion Lounges, but the benefit is limited. To use this benefit, you must be on a same-day Delta flight (marketed or operated) and have paid for the flight with a U.S.-issued American Express card.
To enter the Delta SkyMiles Guest Center, you must have a valid Delta Reserve or Delta Reserve Business card, a valid government-issued ID, and a same-day boarding pass showing an eligible Delta flight. The guest fees are the same as what you pay with either Platinum card, but they must also be flying on a same-day Delta flight (marketed or operated by Delta). Terms apply.
What to expect at the SLC Centurion Lounge
The completed lounge in Salt Lake City International Airport's new Concourse B will cover nearly 16,000 square feet and offer a range of amenities for relaxation or productivity, including fresh meals, specialty drinks, and a wellness room.
Outdoor terrace
The terrace will offer heaters for chilly days and fans for hot weather, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy the views of the airfield and Wasatch Mountains.
A menu designed by a renowned Resy chef
Centurion Lounges offer locally inspired menus curated by award-winning chefs, featuring a hot breakfast, fresh desserts, rotating main dishes, and a variety of sides and salads.
Full coffee bar, cocktail menu and wine list
The lounge will feature a Blue Roast by American Express coffee bar with espresso drinks, cold brew, and seasonal specialty drinks. The cocktail menu will be designed by Centurion Lounge Mixologist, Jim Meehan, and feature locally inspired alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The wine list will be curated by Centurion Lounge Wine Director and sommelier, Anthony Giglio.
Bottom line
Amex is set to expand its Centurion Lounge network with a new location at Salt Lake City International Airport in 2025.
New Centurion Lounges have recently opened at Benito Juarez International Airport in Mexico City (MEX), Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport (ATL). Several more locations are planned to open in the coming years, including Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) in 2025 and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in 2026.
