Amazon Prime offers new gas discount for saving at the pump.
Amazon Prime offers more than just fast, free shipping; it now provides fuel discounts at thousands of gas stations across the U.S., which could help members save up to $70 annually.
Amazon Prime is now offering gas discounts, similar to Walmart+.
Amazon Prime fuel savings offer
Members of Amazon Prime can now save 10 cents per gallon on fuel at approximately 7,000 BP, Amoco, and AMPM locations across the U.S. when refueling.
In 2025, Amazon plans to expand its benefit by offering a discount on electric vehicle charging with BP Pulse, BP's electric vehicle charging business.
How it works
To receive a 10-cent discount on fuel, link your Amazon account with Earnify, the loyalty program of BP and its affiliates, by visiting amazon.com/fuelsavings. Non-Prime members typically save five cents per gallon, but with this benefit, you'll get an additional five cents.
As a new Earnify rewards member, you can receive a 250-point welcome offer and earn 2X points for the first 90 days after registration. Additionally, you'll earn one point per dollar in fuel spend and two points per dollar in convenience spend. With 200 points, you can redeem $2 in convenience savings or a five-cent per gallon discount.
Amazon Prime vs. Walmart+
If you're considering between Amazon Prime and Walmart+ membership, Amazon's fuel discount is a valuable benefit. Additionally, a Prime membership offers fast, free delivery on a vast array of items, access to Prime Video, and a complimentary Grubhub+ membership.
Members of Walmart+ can enjoy savings of 10 cents per gallon on fuel at over 13,000 Exxon, Mobil, Walmart and Murphy stations. Additionally, members receive free shipping with no minimum, free 24/7 access to pet care through Pawp, and a Paramount+ Essential membership.
You can cover the cost of a Walmart+ membership with a monthly statement credit of up to $12.95 plus applicable taxes (subject to auto-renewal) using The Platinum Card® from American Express. Terms apply.
Cards to use to save on gas
You can save money at the gas pump by using a rewards card. For instance, the Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express provides 3% cash back on gas and transit, as well as 6% cash back at U.S. supermarkets on up to $6,000 per year in purchases, then 1%. Additionally, the card has a $0 intro annual fee for the first year, followed by $95 annually after. (see rates and fees)
If you want to earn flexible travel rewards that can be transferred to partner hotel and airline loyalty programs, the Citi Strata Premier℠ Card is a good option. It offers 3X points at gas and EV charging stations, as well as 10X points on hotels, car rentals, and attractions booked on CitiTravel.com; 3X points on air travel and other hotel purchases; 3X points at restaurants; 3X points at supermarkets; and 1X points on all other purchases. The terms apply.
Cards to use when shopping on Amazon
Prime members can enjoy 5% cash back on all purchases from Amazon.com, Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods, and Chase Travel. Additionally, they will receive 10% or more back on a rotating selection of items from Amazon. The card currently offers a welcome bonus of a $150 Amazon Gift Card, which covers an annual Prime membership.
The Citi Double Cash® Card is a great option for shoppers who want to earn cash back on all purchases, not just through Amazon. The card offers 2% cash back on all purchases, plus an additional 1% as you pay for those purchases, and there is no annual fee or limit to the amount of cash back you can earn.
