New York Stock Exchange disrupted by anti-Israel demonstrators
On Monday, a demonstration in support of Palestine took place near the New York Stock Exchange. Despite this, there were no interruptions to the stock market, and none of the protesters managed to reach the iconic trading floor.
The NYSE security enclosed a perimeter area outside of the building on Broad street in lower Manhattan. According to social media videos, Jewish Voice for Peace broke into that area and protestors were chaining themselves to the security fence and exterior doors. Some of the protestors were arrested and carried away in zip ties, as shown in the videos.
The protests were restricting access to the building, but it was uncertain if any protestors had entered the building at that time.
On social media platform X, chants such as "we want housing, not genocide" and "let Gaza live" were heard during a live stream.
NYSE did not yet return a call for comment.
