Disney has announced the release of 'Mandalorian & Grogu,' 'Toy Story 5,' and another 'Tron' in theaters.

The new theatrical schedule for Friday includes a film about the Mandalorian and Grogu, a fifth "Toy Story" film, and another "Tron" flick before the end of 2026.

Despite the pandemic shutdowns and Hollywood labor strikes, Disney's theatrical business has struggled to connect with audiences and generate revenue.

Bob Iger, who took over as CEO of Disney in late 2022, has been working to improve the quality of its films after admitting that the quantity of entertainment content suffered during his absence. He stated that brands such as Marvel needed to be more selective about which sequels are produced.

Iger stated that he would no longer tolerate his company's partners and creative team prioritizing messaging over storytelling.

Disney's revised lineup includes popular franchises and movies for mature viewers.

The release date for the "Moana" sequel has been moved from 2025 to July 2026.

"The Amateur," starring Oscar winner Rami Malek, has been moved from November 2024 to April 2025. Meanwhile, "Nightbitch," a Searchlight feature with Amy Adams attached, is set to release in December 2024.
