Chevrolet is incorporating its all-electric BrightDrop commercial vans to boost sales, accessibility, and recognition of the vehicles under the Chevrolet brand.

Chevrolet's large network of North American dealers, including more than 500 commercial-focused stores in the U.S., will expand the selling and service points for the company's electric and autonomous vehicles, according to Sandor Piszar, vice president of the GM Envolve fleet business in North America.

"The Chevrolet brand's strength will drive volume for customers who choose EVs, as they can easily transition to EVs with the dealership they trust for their other fleet needs."

The number of new dealers for commercial EVs will depend on those who choose to join the program and meet the necessary requirements, such as having the required vehicle lifts, service bays, and employee training.

The cost for a dealer to become certified to sell BrightDrop products varies based on the store, and GM did not reveal the average cost.

In the future, the two all-electric commercial vans sold by BrightDrop, known as the Zevo 400 and Zevo 600, will be rebranded as Chevrolet BrightDrop 400 and 600 vans for package delivery.

""Chevy is our top-selling fleet brand for General Motors, as stated by Piszar," said GM Envolve."

BrightDrop, a fully owned subsidiary launched by GM in 2021, has undergone a recent change, with an announcement made on Thursday.

Despite GM's high expectations for BrightDrop to become a profitable growth business, sales and revenue did not meet the initial projections.

It's unlikely that BrightDrop generated $1 billion in revenue in 2023, as GM declined to disclose the company's revenue.

GM reports that BrightDrop sold 746 units in the first six months of 2024, despite only selling about 500 vans in 2023.

Ingersoll, Ontario is where GM's CAMI Assembly plant produces the vans.
