Apple unveiled a new iPad mini on Tuesday, providing the first update to its smallest tablet since 2021.

The new iPad mini is equipped with the A17 Pro processor, which was also used in the iPhone 15 Pro last year. This allows it to utilize Apple Intelligence, the company's new AI suite that will gradually be introduced to users this month.

In the third quarter of the company's fiscal year, the iPad segment experienced the strongest growth, with a 24% increase year over year, following the release of new iPads since 2022.

The iPad Mini, Apple's smallest tablet, has gained a following among users who value its compact 8.3-inch display for reading and taking notes. The device is compatible with the latest Apple Pencil Pro, which was unveiled alongside the iPad Pros in 2021.

The product is available for preorder now at $499 and will be launched in stores on Oct. 23.
