The latest major tech company donated $1 million to President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration fund in an attempt to gain favor with the incoming administration.
Google is thrilled to support the 2025 inauguration by streaming it live on YouTube and featuring a direct link on our homepage. Additionally, we are contributing to the inaugural committee, as announced by Karan Bhatia, Google's global head of government affairs and public policy, in a statement to CNBC.
On Monday, the company made a donation.
An inaugural committee is appointed by the president-elect in the U.S. to organize and finance events such as the opening ceremonies, galas, and parade. Unlike campaign contributions, there are no limits on the amount an individual, corporation, or labor group can donate to the inaugural committee.
Google has previously donated to inaugals and has consistently provided a YouTube livestream and link to the inauguration on its homepage, a spokesperson stated.
