Despite not financially supporting Donald Trump's campaign this time, Peter Thiel, a former major backer of Trump in the tech industry, stated that he would vote for him over President Joe Biden.

"In an interview at the Aspen Ideas Festival, Thiel stated that if a gun was held to his head, he would vote for Trump, but he would not contribute any funds to his super PAC."

In 2016, Thiel donated $1.25 million to Trump's campaign, despite the majority of tech money going to Clinton. Thiel, known for his early bet on PayPal and co-founding PayPal, also spoke at the Republican National Convention and later helped organize a meeting between Trump and top executives from Amazon, Apple, Google, Tesla, and other tech giants.

Thiel initially supported Trump but later soured on him and said he wouldn't fund any politician in the 2024 presidential campaign. Despite spending $32 million on Republican candidates in the 2022 midterm elections, the results were mixed.

In Ohio, J.D. Vance, Trump's pick, defended a GOP-held seat against Democratic Rep. Tim Ryan. Meanwhile, in Arizona, Republican Blake Masters failed in his bid to unseat Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly.
