  • Over 100 tech investors and entrepreneurs pledged their support for Kamala Harris in her presidential campaign on Wednesday.
  • The group calls itself VCs for Kamala.
  • The group vowed to devote our days to searching for, funding, and backing entrepreneurs who are constructing the future.

A group of venture capitalists opposed the Republican nominee for president, Donald Trump, after gaining the support of some tech investors.

On Wednesday, over 100 VCs publicly endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the probable Democratic candidate, with her campaign gearing up to challenge Trump in the upcoming November election.

A diverse group of investors and entrepreneurs from various funds and demographics have formed VCs for Kamala, which includes Vinod Khosla, Reid Hoffman, Mark Cuban, Aileen Lee, and Rebecca Kaden.

"The group pledged to invest in and support entrepreneurs who are shaping the future, while also advocating for pro-business, pro-American dream, pro-entrepreneurship, and pro-technological progress. They believe in democracy as the foundation of their nation and trustworthy institutions as a vital component of their industry's success."

The VCs for Kamala's list have brought to light the growing political divide in Silicon Valley and the tech industry. Elon Musk, CEO, has openly supported Trump, endorsing him shortly after the assassination attempt, while Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz, VCs, have stated their support for Trump, arguing that his policies would benefit "little tech."

Elon Musk, along with Sequoia Capital's Shaun Maguire and 8VC's Joe Lonsdale, is reportedly planning to contribute millions to a pro-Trump PAC, called America PAC. Additionally, Musk's close friend and former PayPal colleague David Sacks, co-founder at Craft Ventures, vocally supports Trump and spoke at the Republican National Convention earlier this month.

Greylock partner and longtime Democratic donor Hoffman shared a pro-Harris pledge link on X, the social media platform owned by Musk.

"Hoffman proudly signed the #vcsforkamala pledge, viewing it as an investment in our democratic future."

Erika Lucas, General Partner at VEST Her Ventures, stated on LinkedIn that the pledge was backed by "a lot of women, particularly Black Women VCs." She added, "I'm proud to serve and organize with them as well as our male colleagues. We understand the assignment."

The Chicago Democratic National Convention is set to commence on Aug. 19.
