On Tuesday, Nvidia received a subpoena, which caused the stock to decline in after-hours trading. The chipmaker's shares had already lost nearly 10% during regular trading on Tuesday.
Nvidia's recent rise in dominance in artificial intelligence chips for data centers has been directly linked to its dominance in the category years before competitors started taking it seriously.
According to industry estimates, Nvidia holds over 80% of the data center AI chip market.
Nvidia "wins on merit, as demonstrated by our benchmark results and customer value, and customers have the freedom to select the best solution for their needs," Nvidia stated to CNBC.
