In an interview with CNBC's "Closing Bell Overtime," CEO Jensen Huang stated that the demand for the company's next-generation artificial intelligence chip, Blackwell, is "extremely high."
During the interview on Wednesday, Huang stated that everyone desires to possess the greatest amount and be the first, as shares of Nvidia increased by approximately 3% on Thursday morning.
The demand for Blackwell, which is expected to cost between $30,000 and $40,000 per unit, is high among companies like OpenAI, Microsoft, Meta, and others building AI data centers to power products like ChatGPT and Copilot.
Nvidia has experienced significant growth due to the artificial intelligence boom, with shares increasing by approximately 150% year-to-date. Additionally, the company's revenue has continued to rise during the fiscal second quarter, reaching $30.04 billion, which represents a 122% increase from the previous year. Nvidia anticipates generating $32.5 billion in sales during the current quarter.
"Huang stated to CNBC that with technology advancing at a rapid pace, it presents an opportunity to accelerate innovation, enhance capabilities, boost throughput, reduce costs, and minimize energy consumption. He added that the company is on track to achieve these goals."
In August, Colette Kress, the Chief Financial Officer, stated that the company anticipates generating several billion dollars in revenue from Blackwell during the fourth fiscal quarter.
Nvidia plans to update its AI platform annually with the aim of enhancing performance by two to three times, as stated by Jensen.
