The NHC stated that the storm's effects could be devastating, with water levels potentially rising five to seven feet above normal tide levels. A hurricane watch has been issued for Barbados, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadine Islands, and Grenada. Tropical storm watches are in effect for Martinique, Dominica, and Tobago.
On Saturday, the NHC posted on social media that the storm is predicted to cause destructive hurricane-force winds and a life-threatening storm surge in parts of the Windward Islands late Sunday night or Monday.
Flooding and heavy rain are predicted for certain areas in the central and western Caribbean.
The National Hurricane Center predicts heavy rainfall and localized flooding across the Windward Islands Sunday night and Monday, with rainfall totals of three to six inches.
The storm on Saturday afternoon was 785 miles east of Barbados, moving west at 23 miles per hour with maximum winds of about 65 miles per hour, according to the advisory.
