Here's how to exchange numbers just by tapping iPhones together.
- You can exchange contact information by holding your iPhones next to each other.
- Both iPhones need to be updated to iOS 17.
- This feature minimizes the likelihood of errors when entering someone's contact information.
At networking events or dinner parties, you can easily exchange phone numbers with a new colleague or friend by simply holding your iPhones close to each other.
The NameDrop feature was introduced with the release of iOS 17 in September.
NameDrop is a quicker and more efficient way to add new contacts to your phone, as it eliminates the need to recite numbers out loud, trade phones, or manually enter contact information. Additionally, NameDrop ensures that you don't misspell your new contact's name.
With NameDrop, Apple allows you to control what information you share with others when using the app, preventing the accidental disclosure of sensitive data stored on your phone, such as your home address. However, there is one disadvantage: you cannot simultaneously share your email and phone number, and you can only use NameDrop once between two phones unless you delete the contact and start over.
Here’s how to try it for yourself.
