Elon Musk announces SpaceX and X headquarters relocation to Texas due to new California trans student privacy law.

Elon Musk, CEO and owner of SpaceX, announced on Tuesday that both companies will relocate their headquarters from California to Texas.

Governor Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) signed a new law on Tuesday that prohibits school districts in California from informing parents about a child's gender identification change, prompting Elon Musk to pledge to take action.

"This law and the preceding ones have led SpaceX to relocate its HQ from Hawthorne, California to Starbase, Texas. Additionally, X HQ will move from San Francisco to Austin," Musk posted on X.

"I informed Governor Newsom a year ago that such laws would drive families and businesses out of California to safeguard their children," he stated.

In 2022, People magazine reported that Elon Musk's 18-year-old daughter was granted permission to legally change her name and gender to Vivian Jenna Wilson. She opted to shed the Musk family name and use her mother's maiden name, Justine Wilson, instead.

In October 2022, when asked about his estranged transgender daughter, Musk responded to the Financial Times with "Can't win them all," and stated that he has good relationships with all his other children.

According to the Financial Times, Musk stated that his daughter's choice was influenced by "neo-Marxists" at educational institutions.

Elon Musk has reportedly pledged to donate $45 million monthly to a pro-Trump super PAC known as the America PAC.

If Trump is reelected president this year, it is predicted that he will rescind transgender rights.

According to the 19th News, a February 2023 Trump campaign video stated that his proposals would eliminate Medicare and Medicaid funding for hospitals that offer gender-affirming care to trans youth, accuse teachers of sex discrimination for supporting students' gender identities, and instruct federal agencies to halt all programs that promote the idea of sex and gender transition at any age.

In 2021, Musk, who is also the CEO of , relocated his automaker's corporate headquarters from Palo Alto, California to Austin.

SpaceX did not provide any additional information about its Hawthorne operations, including whether the company would shut them down.

Tesla retained its Palo Alto office as its "engineering headquarters" after relocating its headquarters to Texas.
