Since 2008, gasoline prices have reached their highest level, with the national average for a regular gallon of gas being $4.065, according to AAA. Prices are even higher in some areas, such as California, where the average was $5.343 on Monday morning.
To save money on gas, you can use apps like GasBuddy to find the cheapest stations near you and sort by fuel type, payment method, and gas station brand.
Getting started
- You can download the GasBuddy app from either the Apple App Store or Google Play.
- Open GasBuddy and tap “Sign Up.”
- Enter your email and ZIP code
- You can turn off the location feature in your phone settings later on.
Picking gas
- Tap the “find gas” tab on the bottom of your screen.
- GasBuddy allows you to filter for various fuel types, including regular, midgrade, premium, diesel, UNL88, and E85. For the demonstration screenshot, I selected "regular."
- The app displays a list of stations and their prices, ranging from low to high, with the range of prices indicated for each location. For instance, in Los Angeles, the range is from $4.99 to $5.99.
- You can filter your search by payment method, ratings, brands, and amenities, such as 24/7 open restrooms and stations.
- After selecting a station, clicking on it will reveal its complete address, directions, ratings, reviews, and amenities.
- The app will request you to report gas prices at the station to assist others in obtaining accurate information.
You can now easily discover the cheapest gas prices in your area.
