CNBC's 2022 Disruptor 50 list nominations are now open.

CNBC is currently seeking nominations for the 2022 CNBC Disruptor 50, an annual list of private companies that employ groundbreaking technology to revolutionize industries and establish the next generation of successful public companies.

The deadline for submissions has been extended until Friday, Feb. 11, at 3 pm Eastern time. Eligible are all independent, privately-owned companies founded after Jan. 1, 2007, and their founders, executives, investors, and communications representatives can submit nomination forms.

The Disruptor 50 list, which CNBC has been publishing annually for a decade, will be released this year. As we anticipate the next batch of game-changing companies, we'll also examine the trajectories of the companies that made the first list in 2013. Of the original list's companies, 21 have gone public, while 14 have been acquired, some by giants like Google, Facebook, and , and others by private equity firms or other start-ups.

The Disruptor 50 list has produced several sector-defining companies, including Twitter, Pinterest, Uber, Airbnb, Spotify, and Warby Parker. We will be featuring each company in our weekly newsletter, which also includes updates on the more than 200 companies (85 of which are now public) that have been named to the list over the past nine years.

Since six of the 2021 Disruptor 50 honorees have already gone public, the list's top-ranked disruptor has already made its debut. This means that a new No. 1 company is guaranteed for 2022. Who will it be?

The nominees for the 2022 Disruptor 50 will undergo a thorough and demanding evaluation process that involves extensive research and scoring across multiple quantitative and qualitative criteria, such as scalability, revenue growth, and workforce diversity. The advisory board, comprised of prominent innovators and entrepreneurs, will assign weights to the quantitative criteria, while a team of CNBC editors will assess the qualitative aspects of each nominee. This is a significant undertaking; a record 1,565 companies were nominated for the 2021 list.

The list of the 2022 CNBC Disruptor 50 will be released in May across CNBC's TV and digital platforms. Eligible companies can submit their nominations by clicking here. Winners will be notified in April.
