On Wednesday, OpenAI announced that it was working to resolve an issue that caused its ChatGPT assistant and Sora video generator to become unavailable.
X posted that OpenAI has identified the issue and is currently working on implementing a fix.
Earlier this month, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced that the company's technology was being used by 300 million active users each week. On Wednesday, the company released new versions of its software for the iPhone, iPad, and Mac, which include integrations with ChatGPT.
Over five hours, an outage in June lasted, while ChatGPT has been down for over an hour and a half.
In October, OpenAI was valued at $157 billion in a funding round that included participation from existing backers and chipmakers. The company's rapid growth began with the launch of ChatGPT in late 2022 and has been the biggest story in the tech industry over the last couple years.
On Tuesday, Altman wrote on X that "we significantly underestimated demand for Sora; it is going to take awhile to get everyone access."
