Ben Horowitz, a venture capitalist, reveals his plans to contribute to VP Kamala Harris' presidential campaign.
  • Ben Horowitz, co-founder of Andreessen Horowitz, announced in an email to his employees that he intended to contribute to Kamala Harris' presidential campaign.
  • In July, Horowitz and Marc Andreessen stated that they were supporting a pro-Trump super PAC.
  • That was before Harris replaced Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee.

Ben Horowitz, a venture capitalist, has announced that he will donate to Vice President Kamala Harris' election bid, just three months after revealing plans to support Donald Trump's presidential campaign.

The tech investor and his wife have a longtime friendship with Harris, as reported by Axios in a letter to employees of Andreessen Horowitz. A source close to the firm confirmed the contents of the letter.

"I wanted to provide you with an update on my political activity." Horowitz wrote. "As I mentioned earlier, I have known Vice President Harris for over 10 years and she has been a great friend to me during that time."

"Due to our friendship, Horowitz stated that Felicia and he would be making a substantial contribution to organizations backing the Harris Walz campaign."

Andreessen and Horowitz, the founders of their firm in 2009, have not made any formal endorsements for the 2024 election. Their financial support for the Trump campaign was motivated by a belief in a better "little tech agenda."

"Our political efforts as a firm are solely centered on defending Little Tech. We do not participate in political battles unrelated to Little Tech."

Andreessen and Horowitz have expressed their criticism of the Biden administration's stance on startups and crypto. In his recent letter, Horowitz stated that he is optimistic about his conversations with Harris and her team, but they have not yet disclosed their tech policy, so the firm will not be updating its position on this matter.
