  • On Monday, Apple officially launched its artificial intelligence initiative, Apple Intelligence.
  • To run it on your phone, you will need the latest iPhone 15 Pro.
  • According to Apple's website, Apple Intelligence will also support devices powered by the M1 chip, including iPad Air, iPad Pro, and Macs.

On Monday, Apple announced its entry into the world of artificial intelligence. However, in order to use it on your iPhone, you may require an upgrade.

Apple's website states that Apple Intelligence, the company's take on generative AI, is supported on devices that run the M1 chip, such as the iPad Air, iPad Pro, and Macs. This covers most products that are several years old. However, it will only support the 2023 iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro, not the regular iPhone 15.

That could help Apple drive new iPhone upgrades this fall.

The company reported a 9.9% decrease in iPhone revenue to $45.96 billion during the second quarter, indicating low demand for the recently released iPhones launched in September.

Apple Intelligence, set to launch in beta this fall, will offer a range of features including proofreading and rewriting writing, creating custom emojis, searching for specific messages, summarizing and transcribing phone calls, and providing more detailed answers from Siri through OpenAI's ChatGPT.
