Amazon Web Services CEO to resign.
- Next month, Amazon's cloud computing CEO, Adam Selipsky, will resign from his position.
- After Selipsky exits Amazon Web Services on June 3, Matt Garman, senior vice president of sales and marketing, will take over as his successor.
The CEO of Amazon Web Services, Adam Selipsky, will resign from his position next month, the company announced on Tuesday.
Amazon Web Services' senior vice president of sales and marketing, Matt Garman, will replace Selipsky as head of the company on June 3, according to Amazon's announcement.
In a memo to employees, Selipsky announced his departure from AWS after approximately 14 years to focus more on spending time with his family. He stated that the future of the cloud business is promising.
"Considering the current state of the business and the leadership team, now is the perfect time for me to make this transition and spend more time with family to recharge and create mental free space for reflection and contemplation," Selipsky wrote.
In a separate memo, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy praised Selipsky for his leadership skills and Garman for his strong qualifications for his new role.
In 2021, after Jassy was named Amazon's CEO, many speculated that Garman would replace him as head of AWS. However, Amazon appointed Selipsky, CEO of Tableau, for the role.
