U.S. District Judge Reed O'Connor in Texas recused himself from X's case against the World Federation of Advertisers, which was filed last week. The judge did not provide a reason for his withdrawal from the lawsuit.

Elon Musk, who owns and leads both Twitter and Tesla, faced a potential conflict of interest on Monday when NPR reported that he had owned shares of Tesla in 2022, the last date of his available disclosure.

Calls for comment to the court's clerk weren't immediately returned.

In a lawsuit filed by X, the company accused several advertisers of antitrust behavior after they stopped advertising on the site. The advertisers named in the lawsuit include Unilever, Mars, CVS Healthcare, and Orsted in Europe.

The WFA announced that it was temporarily halting the activities of its Global Alliance for Responsible Media nonprofit organization in response to the lawsuit.
